The Indiana Fever were one win away from eliminating the eventual championship-winning Las Vegas Aces during the WNBA Semifinals, pushing through an avalanche of injuries that could have easily crushed their spirits. No player's absence was more noticeable than that of Caitlin Clark, who missed most of the 2025 campaign while nursing groin and quadriceps issues. Mystery surrounded her status before the two sides agreed it was best to sit out the rest of the season.
Clark's injury saga devastated all involved and had fans thinking about what could have been. Well, the time for wondering will soon end. The 2024 All-WNBA First-Team selection took the court for a Team USA practice on Friday. She is feeling good, “really good.”
“I’m at 100%,” Clark told reporters, per Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports. “Obviously I need to knock off a little bit of rust and get my lungs back, but my body feels really good. I feel like I’m in a really good spot. So, my main goal is just staying that way.”
The 23-year-old point guard could never get her footing this year, scoring 16.5 points on 36.7 percent shooting from the field in just 13 games. She remains a potent playmaker, averaging 8.5 assists in the early stages of her WNBA career, but turnovers also remain high (5.5). A healthy Caitlin Clark could do wonders for the Fever and the league as a whole. Heck, she is already the face of the W.
Considering how dangerous Indiana was without the former Rookie of the Year, it stands to reason that the squad should be right back in the title picture in 2026. Yes, the offense will change with Clark on the floor, but as everyone gets used to playing together for an extended period of time, magic could ensue.
Right now, though, No. 22 is just trying to get into a rhythm. Although a WNBA lockout is still a possibility, she is eying a big comeback campaign.
