Gunther and Ricochet are like WWE‘s answer to oil and vinegar; they don't mix but goodness, when they are together they can certainly elevate an evening.

That's right, after snatching away the Intercontinental Title away from Ricochet in a very good SmackDown television match, Gunther and his accomplice, Ludwig, once again marched down to the ring in their best red suits looking to put on a show against the former star of Lucha Underground.

Unsurprisingly, Gunther pulled out the win, but goodness, much like their first televised title match together, the duo put on a fantastic bout that might have just stolen the show on this particular episode of SmackDown.

Sidebar: Yes, technically Gunther and Ricochet have wrested a half dozen times for the title on house shows for the promotion but hey, for the sake of the cannon, why not stick with it?

In a match loaded with acrobatic moves by Ricochet consistently countered by his much larger foe, Gunther punished the former Intercontinental Champion with dropkicks, chops, and one particularly vicious boot that nearly took off King Ric's head.

Goodness gracious, that is the kick of a champion.

While the outcome of the match wasn't particularly surprising, as Gunther is one of the most unstoppable performers in The Fed today who should enjoy a very long and successful championship run, it was good to see a rematch from PWG All Star Weekend 13, when Ricochet wrestled a wrestler then known as Walter to one of the best matches on a card that also featured Sammy Guevara versus Flamita and Rey Horus, and The Chosen Bros – Jeff Cobb, and Matt Riddle – defeating The Lucha Brothers for the PWG World Tag Team Title. Unfortunately for Ricochet, the results were very different this time around.
