MLW sues WWE over claims that WWE committed unfair and anti-competitive practices, which includes monopolistic behavior.
The complaint, which was filed on January 11, discussed in detail how WWE allegedly committed unfair business practices. The bottom line: WWE officials – namely Vince and Stephanie McMahon – used their influence on TV networks to block MLW's programming from being taken up on TV.
MLW alleges that WWE's Stephanie McMahon blocked a TV deal between MLW and Tubi for a Tuesday Night slot for their programming. According to the complaint, WWE asked Tubi to reconsider the Tuesday Night schedule because the time slot would coincide with their very own NXT program. Because of this, Tubi allegedly backed out of the deal completely. With the show due to come on air on August 10, MLW says they received a notice of contract cancellation just the day before.
Another malpractice MLW alleges WWE has committed is when WWE's Vince McMahon used his influence as an investor in A&E, who owns a stake at VICE. According to the complaint, WWE pressured VICE to withdraw from an existing partnership with MLW, leading to VICE withdrawing from negotiations past the October 7 Fightland Special.
