Saturday will be a very emotional day across the United States and the world for that matter. It will mark the 20-year anniversary of the tragic 9/11 attacks in New York City. In honor of the fallen, the Yankees and Mets will pay tribute to the ones who lost their lives by wearing FDNY and NYPD hats during the game, via TMZ Sports.

This will actually mark the first time on 9/11 that the Yankees and Mets have played each other since the tragedy and it's certainly going to be a special night. Aside from the caps, both managers who were in charge during 2001 in Joe Torre and Bobby Valentine will take part in the first-pitch ceremonies.

Wearing these hats has been a regular occurrence each and every year for both of these ballclubs, but on the anniversary, it's going to have a different feel. Aside from the former coaches showing up, the Mets will have 14 players in attendance from their 2001 squad, including Mike Piazza, who hit a historic homer just days after the attacks on the Twin Towers.

Other than the players, there will also be numerous first responders at the game between the Yankees and Mets. It's crazy to think it's been 20 years since America was attacked but it's great to see two of New York's most loved teams paying homage to the courageous ones who passed away far too soon on 9/11.
