The New York Yankees made a big trade on Sunday night, acquiring Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rortvedt from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela. The Yankees are also continuing to look at their options at first base, and Jon Heyman reports it's looking like an Anthony Rizzo return is the most likely option.

This comes amid rumors of pursuits of star free agent Freddie Freeman and Oakland Athletics star Matt Olson. New York is reportedly pessimistic about its chances to nab Freeman, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves the two strongest suitors for his services.

As for Olson, the Yankees have been kicking the tires on a trade, but the price is high. The Athletics reportedly want stud prospect Anthony Volpe and more for Olson, but New York doesn't want to do that. With Oakland seemingly holding firm on those demands, it doesn't seem like Olson will be a Yankee.

This leaves Rizzo as a fallback option after he spent time with the Yankees last season after his trade from the Chicago Cubs. The 32-year-old appeared in 49 games for New York last season, hitting eight home runs and driving in 21 runs while hitting .249/.340/.428. His numbers have dipped the last few seasons from his All-Star days with the Cubs thanks in part to some back issues, but he's still a solid power bat and a strong presence in the field.

The Yankees were reportedly also a suitor for Carlos Correa, but it's currently looking like that won't be in the cards.
