The Young Sheldon series finale aired one week ago. Before it did, I had written out six theories for the finale. But how many did I get right?

The predictions

Below are the six predictions and an analysis of how close I was to being right.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Young Sheldon series finale

The Coopers will stay put

I figured that with the death of George Cooper (Lance Barber), Mary (Zoe Perry) would stay put in their Medford, Texas home. However, at the end of the finale, Jim Parsons' voiceover narration reveals Mary puts the house up for sale.

An adult Sheldon walks through the house before we are brought back to reality. Iain Armitage is back playing the role when Missy (Raegan Revord) asks if he'll remember her. He then goes off to Caltech as the episode ends.

Meemaw settles into her new life with Dale

At times, Meemaw (Annie Potts) seemed unhappy with her living situation with her boyfriend, Dale (Craig T. Nelson). It's understandable given her independence.

The Young Sheldon finale doesn't really revolve around Meemaw at all. Sure, she tries her best to convince the kids to get baptized for Mary, but her life with Dale is hardly touched on in the episodes. Dale does try and hang out with the Cooper kids as they grieve their father's death, though.

Georgie will have a breakthrough with Mandy's parents

Similar to Meemaw, the McAllisters are hardly the focal point of the Young Sheldon finale. Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) and Jim (Will Sasso) are shown at George's funeral, but they aren't shown much for the rest of the finale.

Perhaps this was done to preserve Georgie's (Montana Jordan) breakthrough with them for the spin-off, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. Of course, with Mandy (Emily Osment) co-starring in it, the McAllisters will surely have a big role.

It will be great when Audrey acknowledges the father that Georgie is. Honestly, she probably feels similarly about him as Meemaw did about George. Hopefully, it doesn't take a funeral for her to acknowledge him.

Paige will return

I was way off the mark with this prediction. Paige (Mckenna Grace) played a pivotal part in Sheldon's early life. As she grew into a rebellious teenager, her role became smaller.

Perhaps this was due to Grace's rising star power — she does, after all, star in the Ghostbusters franchise. But the last Young Sheldon fans saw of her was in Season 6 when she stole George's truck with Missy. Before that, her last interaction with Sheldon was at a frat party where he and Missy saved her from going home with an older boy.

Seeing Grace in the series one last time could have given closure to her arc with Sheldon. After all, he doesn't mention her at all in The Big Bang Theory — one of the hardest parts of doing a prequel series.

More Big Bang Theory surprises

Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik made their on-screen returns in the Young Sheldon series finale. They played Sheldon and Amy in The Big Bang Theory.

I thought that surely we'd get another Big Bang Theory appearance, even if it was a brief glimpse of Kaley Cuoco or Johnny Galecki. A younger version of Leonard Hofstadter would have also been welcomed when Sheldon made his way onto the Caltech campus. I suppose Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro didn't want to go overboard with nostalgia.

Sheldon delivers a heartwarming speech at George's funeral

Well, I was half right with this prediction. The death of his father rocked Sheldon, though he dealt with the grief differently than the rest of the family. All of the Coopers delivered a speech at the funeral, including Sheldon.

Or so we thought. There is a scene where Sheldon delivers a touching speech to those in attendance. However, we quickly learn that it was a dream as an adult Sheldon seems remorseful over not getting up and speaking.

Overall thoughts

I missed the mark on almost all of my predictions. The Georgie one can potentially come to fruition in the spin-off series, but for now, it's incorrect. At least I almost predicted Sheldon getting up to speak at his father's funeral correctly. That was a shot in the dark.
