Zach LaVine enjoyed his first All-Star campaign for the Chicago Bulls in the 2020-21 season. In the offseason, the front office added plenty of reinforcements for Chicago's star guard to work with. DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso all made their way to help LaVine and the Bulls try to take the next step forward, and they were able to make their first playoff appearance since 2017. It was LaVine's first playoff appearance in his NBA career.

While LaVine gets the spotlight for the Bulls, his fiancee, Hunter Mar, is getting the spotlight for this piece. LaVine gets his rightful praise and recognition but for this one, the focus will be on Zach LaVine's fiancee, Hunter Mar.

Zach LaVine's fiancee: Hunter Mar

Hunter Mar and Zach LaVine were high school sweethearts and the relationship carried on throughout both of their journeys. While LaVine would go on to play basketball at UCLA, Mar went and played soccer at Seattle University. The two were able to make the long distance relationship hold up during that time.

When LaVine was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Mar went and made the move to Minneapolis with him and has been by his side the entire time.

Mar is big on Instagram with over 99k followers, and she has even changed her last name to LaVine on there even though it is unclear if they have actually tied the knot. While she doesn't post much, her page is filled with photos of her and LaVine, the two looking as happy as ever and as a power couple in the images.

LaVine proposed to Mar during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, making the most out of being quarantined. On his Instagram announcing the engagement, LaVine said:

“My everything?? I love you with all of me. It?s been a long time coming, been together since I was 17 !!! My first love and my FOREVER love. U with me forever ??”

Mar took to social media as well with her own response to LaVine:

“My everything for LIFE! 💍 I love you endlessly. I have known you were the one from the very start. I'll choose you over and over, without a doubt. God made you for me! I am so blessed by you and I can't wait to be your forever.”

Mar said yes, by the way, as their dog looked on photobombing the scene in hilarious fashion. The rest as they say, is history.

As far as LaVine's basketball career and Mar's support of it, the guard for the Chicago Bulls really burst onto the scene in the 2020-21 season, making his first All-Star appearance. Mar took to her Instagram to celebrate the nod:

“1ST TIME ALL STAR! 🌟🌟🌟Wow, what an amazing accomplishment. There is no one more deserving of this experience. You have already been so special this season and we’re not even half way through! Proud of you baby!!! #LETSGETITTT 😤”

As part of his All-Star nod, the Bulls surprised him with a Zoom call consisting of friends, family, teammates and Mar. The group congratulated LaVine for getting to Atlanta to represent the Eastern Conference, and she chimed in as well:

Mar even quickly put together some decorations in their home to celebrate the achievement, but she noted that she “just winged it” in putting everything together:

“Y'all, I really just winged it with the decorations today not knowing if he actually made it or not.”

Part of the decorations included plenty of balloons including ones that spelled out “All-Star.”

Keep in mind Mar was an athlete herself in college, so the competitive side lives within both of them. That could not have been more apparent than when Mar posted on her Instagram the time the two played Monopoly against each other.

Their custom version of the game featured LaVine on the actual board for the game and on the money that they used while playing. Mar seemed to relish in the victory and posted to her story the aftermath of LaVine flipping the board in a sarcastic manner and then sitting on the couch complaining about how he lost. Clearly there are high stakes even when the couple is playing a board game:

After finally making the playoffs in 2022, LaVine and Mar will now turn their attention to his first time as an unrestricted free agent. The two-time All-Star is in line to get a max contract, setting up this couple for life.

Off the court, it's a tight-knit relationship between LaVine and Mar as they move on to the next step: marriage. They are a ride-or-die couple that has been with one another dating back to their high school days. And now you know a little bit more about Zach LaVine's fiancee, Hunter Mar.
