Since their ugly Week 1 loss, the Green Bay Packers have one of football's hottest teams as they've won 6 games straight. That puts them at 6-1 and 2.5 games ahead of the Minnesota Vikings, the next closest team to them in the NFC North. Perhaps the test to see if the Packers are truly among the league's elite comes this Thursday, as they will take on the Arizona Cardinals for a battle to see who takes the crown of the league's best at midseason.

What's been most impressive from the team over their current hot stretch has been the defense's dominance, as they've given up an average of only 18 points per game without their two best defensive players – Jaire Alexander and Za'Darius Smith. Given that each of these two players are question marks as to whether they will return by season's end, the Packers will likely need to look out for options on the market to bolster the depth chart as they seek one more Super Bowl before Aaron Rodgers leaves or retires (which could happen sooner rather than later).

Given Green Bay's injury issues at receiver and difficulty stopping deep receiver groups, the most pressing areas of need are at wide receiver and cornerback. With that in mind, here are 2 trades the Packers must make before 2021's trade deadline.

Packers Trade

Brandin Cooks, WR Houston Texans

Ever the underrated and complete speedster, Brandin Cooks has continued his stellar play this year in Houston despite being the only plus skill player on a team with poor quarterback play. He's on pace to finish with over 1,200 yards by season's end. Knowing how well he's playing even in his dire situation, he'd be an absolute monster if the Packers bring him in to play alongside Davante Adams. Since Marquez Valdez-Scantling is struggling with injuries, Cooks' addition to the team would replace MVS' elite speed and bring a new element of excellent route running and clean hands. Houston simply doesn't need him as part of their rebuild and should get what they can in return for him.

Knowing Green Bay's hesitancy to make splash trades midseason, it seems like a fever dream to expect Cooks to move to Titletown. However, if there's any year for the Pack to make such a move, this would be the one, given the rumors that this is Rodgers' last season in Wisconsin.

Kyle Fuller, CB Denver Broncos

With Jaire Alexander injured, the Packers have been playing with Eric Stokes and Kevin King at corner. Though those two have filled in well, they'll need more depth in order to compete with the stacked wideouts that the Cardinals, Chiefs, Seahawks, Vikings, and Rams have (their next 5 opponents). Over that daunting stretch, even one injury to either King or Stokes will leave Green Bay thin and likely to be torched. The Broncos are rumored to be shopping Fuller, and he'd be a great addition to the Packers, who even tried to sign him out of restricted free agency from the Bears a few seasons ago.

If the Packers are able to execute even one of these trades, they will be in prime position for a Super Bowl run.
