Like in previous years, the Baltimore Ravens were initially seen as one of the stronger playoff contenders in the AFC. However, their 2021 campaign didn't turn out as planned as injuries forced their key players to miss time during the season. They eventually ended with a dismal 8-9 record and missed out on the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Surely enough, the Ravens would want to increase the depth in key position groups in order to have a competitive team on the field when a similar injury situation will happen again in the near future. Although they are not the most pass-heavy team out there, they would still need competent and experienced receivers on their roster in order to put up a more dynamic offensive attack.

However, they must be wise in choosing their acquisitions as they only have limited cap space available with $9.8 million as of the moment, per Spotrac. With that said, let's take a look at two free agents whom the Ravens must avoid in the upcoming NFL free agency.

2 free agents Ravens must avoid in 2022

2. Allen Robinson II

Veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson II has always been a solid talent ever since he arrived in the league back in 2014. However, the former Pro Bowler's level of play has already regressed in recent years. His chemistry with new Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields wasn't that strong as well as their playing styles didn't gt to click on the field in 2021. It caused Robinson to record the lowest output in his career with a total of 410 receiving yards on 38 receptions and a touchdown in 12 games played.

His poor outing over the past season certainly didn't help his cause, given that he's already placed on the franchise tag in 2021. Not being able to perform at his best will surely affect his value in the upcoming offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Even though the Ravens can get him for a discount, they would still be better off staying away from him. Robinson already showed that he can't play alongside Fields who is a mobile quarterback that chooses to run on the ground rather than to pass deep balls to his weapons in certain situations. The same, or much more, shall be expected if he will be teaming up with a run-heavy QB like Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.

From Robinson's side of things, he also can't revive his career if he will rarely be targeted so it might be better off for both parties to stay away from each other in the upcoming offseason.

1. Antonio Brown

The name of Antonio Brown has always been linked to the Ravens since the start of the pandemic when he worked out together with Lamar Jackson. Two years later, both players are still involved in swirling rumors about teaming up in the near future.

After his controversial exit from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown then expressed his willingness to play in Baltimore after posting an edited picture of him on Twitter:

Despite the promise of the potential pairing, it seems like Brown already had his last shot in the league with the Buccaneers. The controversies that he was previously involved in will surely prevent other teams from taking a chance on him in the near future.

Looking back, it can't be denied that Brown has talent, as evidenced by his seven Pro Bowl appearances throughout his career. He can still contribute well enough to this day as he has been a serviceable player during his most recent stint with the Buccaneers. However, there is no assurance that the 33-year-old can stay out of trouble and remain focused on playing football for an entire season.

Given his enigmatic character, Brown also has the potential to stir up drama in the locker room which the Ravens don't want since they are trying to get back on track season. The Brown-Jackson duo can wait until the former Pittsburgh Steeler successfully proves that he can keep himself in check and bring positive value to a team in the future.
