The Baltimore Ravens used their second pick in the 2020 NFL draft on a running back, selecting former Ohio State star JK Dobbins with the 55th overall pick Friday night.

This may come as a shocker for some people, as the Ravens didn't necessarily need another running back on their roster. However, given the circumstances of his talent, it was just too much for general manager Eric DeCosta to pass up. DeCosta said, in an interview with Ryan Mink from the team's website:

“We thought he might have been the first back [drafted] … This happened all the time with Ozzie [Newsome], these great players would just fall down the board and we would take them. You prepare yourself for it, and when it happens, you've got to be prepared to take the guy. We didn't really expect it. I don't think anybody really did.

With that being said, here are three bold predictions for Dobbins in his rookie season with the Ravens.

At least 100 rushing attempts

The Ravens already have three running backs on their roster in Mark Ingram II, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill. In addition, they have quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is also a threat when running with the ball.

With so many backs on the roster, Dobbins may not get a lot of playing time or carries. However, considering the astounding amount of talent the Ravens have on their roster, they may be blowing out their opponents next season. If that does happen, the Ravens could ideally be using Dobbins in garbage time.

This past season, the Ravens won nine of their game by double digits. Because of this, they frequently started putting in their backups in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. If the same thing happens next season, Dobbins should most certainly exceed 100 rushing attempts.

500 rushing yards

If Dobbins does get playing time in garbage time, he should most certainly reach 500 rushing yards. This past season at Ohio State, Dobbins rushed for 2,003 yards, which was the most in school history. His astonishing performance earned him second-team AP All-American honors and the Big Ten Running Back of the Year award.

If he does get playing time, Dobbins will most certainly be taking advantage of the opportunity.

Five touchdowns

Although five touchdowns seem like a small number, it's not. The Ravens rushing offense takes so much time off the board. The Ravens normally like to run the ball during the fourth quarter when leading to eat time off the clock rather than looking to drive up the score.

With that in mind, Dobbins won't get many touchdowns next season. However, expect him to get a lot of his rushing attempts and rushing yards late in games.
