In Week 17 against the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown had a dispute with his coaches and made a scene as he exited the field in the middle of the game. His actions took the NFL by storm and made rounds all over social media, and he eventually found himself being cut from the team afterward … though he technically hasn't officially been cut yet.

This wasn't the first time that the league encountered trouble involving the former All-Pro wide receiver. Furthermore, Brown isn't the only dramatic player fans have seen, as many other talents also had colorful personalities of their own that caught significant attention during their time in the NFL.

Let's take a look at some of those players.

Most dramatic NFL players not named Antonio Brown

3. Le'Veon Bell

Running back Le'Veon Bell once formed a dangerous duo with Brown during their time with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then, he was on his way to becoming a Hall of Fame-caliber player until a contract dispute caused a ton of drama and hurt his career. He has also had off-field issues, as he was charged with DUI and marijuana possession back in August 2014, which eventually led to a two-game suspension.

Two years later, Bell violated the NFL's substance abuse policy, which earned him another suspension for three games. In 2017, he had his first contract holdout when he sat out the Steelers' preseason activities before joining the team to start the season. The following year, Bell resisted suiting up for the entire season as he received his second franchise tag from the team. He eventually turned down Pittsburgh's final offer, which was north of a four-year, $70 million contract.

Bell then left the Steelers to sign with the Jets on a four-year, $52 million contract. The team's weak offensive line diminished the rusher's production, and he failed to replicate his success with the Steelers in New York. From then on, his career has never the same, as he has bounced around the league with short stints with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens before landing with his current team, the Buccaneers.

Bell's criticism of his former colleagues, including Ben Roethlisberger, Adam Gase, and Andy Reid, burned bridges and caused plenty of drama. It has been quite the fall from grace for the former All-Pro.

2. Chad Johnson

Former wide receiver Chad Johnson was one of the most colorful characters the NFL has ever seen, especially during his stint with the Cincinnati Bengals in the early 2000s. Famously known for his unusual antics on the field, the Florida native also turned heads as he expressed dissatisfaction in the Queen City and caused a rift with his teammates as he tried to force a trade during his time there.

In August 2012, Johnson was also caught in a domestic violence case after he reportedly head-butted his ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada, in the middle of an alleged argument. This led to a divorce and jail time before he was released due to an apology that he issued to the court.

Despite everything, there is no doubt that Johnson has entertained a ton of fans during his time as one of the better-known players in the league. There is also no denying that he is a great talent who managed to land six Pro Bowl appearances and an NFL receiving yards title in 2006. Given Johnson's accomplishments amid all the distractions, one can only wonder how much more he could have achieved if only he took things more seriously and put his entire focus on football.

1. Terrell Owens

Topping this list is another former Bengals receiver in Terrell Owens, who managed to carve out an illustrious career in the NFL. However, it didn't come without distractions as the Alabama native was known for being disgruntled with his teams and pulling off flamboyant celebrations on the field.

Owens started his career with the San Francisco 49ers but eventually tried to force his way out after a subpar campaign in 2003. After landing in Philadelphia, he also had a rift with former quarterback Donovan McNabb and the rest of the Eagles, which then led to a suspension and a deactivation during the 2005 season. Who can forget the driveway press conference?

The wide receiver also turned heads as a member of the Dallas Cowboys when he spat on former Atlanta Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall in a game in the 2006 season. Due to his involvement in issues, Owens failed to be included in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first two years of eligibility but eventually found himself getting inducted in 2018.

At that point, he managed to cause controversy once again as he decided to skip the official induction ceremony and held his own on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Up to this day, Owens continues to make rounds on social media as he has been expressing his desires to play in the league at the age of 48, especially after Antonio Brown's incident with the Buccaneers.

The six-time Pro Bowler may have been quite a thing to handle during his playing days, but at least he had the talent to back it up. Like Johnson, there is no doubt that Owens could've achieved even more as a football player if he just avoided distractions.
