It was a significant victory for the Washington Football Team over the Carolina Panthers on Monday, collecting a second straight win to remain in the playoff hunt.

Washington defeated the Panthers in a close game, 27-21. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke had a great game, and his production guided the offense to a strong effort. The defense was able to contain the Cam Newton-led Panthers offense.

Here are three takeaways from the Washington Football Teams' big Week 11 win over the Panthers.

3. Antonio Gibson can be the long-term back

Antonio Gibson was a third-round pick by Washington in 2020 and has been a great addition. On the season, he has 154 carries for 601 yards and five touchdowns.

Gibson has been a reliable running back in his two seasons and has propelled their rushing attack. Against the Panthers, he had 19 carries for 95 yards.

While he isn't a top-tier back, Gibson has all the tools to be the long-term back for Washington.

2. Terry McLaurin is an elite receiver

McLaurin has been an impact player since he was drafted by Washington in 2o19. He is quickly growing into one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Against the Panthers, McLaurin had five receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown. He is on pace for a second straight 1,000-yard season. Although he is not an elite receiver yet, his route-running and speed make him a threat for anyone in the league to cover.

On the season, he has 54 receptions for 735 yards and five touchdowns. McLaurin makes a significant impact in almost every game. His ability to create separation will only help him only grow as a player.

1. Washington can make the NFL Playoffs

The NFC is in an extremely tight race, and it will be a dogfight for teams to make the postseason. After two straight wins, Washington is back in the conversation with an outstanding defense and an improving offense.

Although there are many teams within one game of the spot, Heinicke has had steady improvement throughout the campaign. He has thrown for 2,390 yards along with 15 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. He may not be one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he has done enough to get wins. He played well against the Panthers, throwing for 206 yards along with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.

At the moment, Washington is the 11th seed but sits only one game behind the 7th spot. With the competitive race for the Wild Card ticket, it will take a great end to the season to get into the postseason.

Washington takes on the Seattle Seahawks next Monday. The Seahawks have lost two straight games, even with Russell Wilson back from injury. Ron Rivera and his wards need to capitalize on the Seahawks' struggles and pick up their third consecutive win.

While Washington doesn't have a star-studded offense, a balanced attack with the defensive unit could carry the squad to the NFL Playoffs.

It will be an intriguing finish to the regular season as the postseason race should come down to the wire.
