According to Pro Football Talk, Deebo Samuel sees the regular Jimmy Garoppolo he's seen all year. Whether that's good news or bad news to 49er fans is up for debate. However, Samuel is excited to see Garoppolo slinging the ball during practice.
“Jimmy just looked like Jimmy to me. Same confidence, same throw, same ball, same energy, same energy,” 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel.
Even George Kittle agrees with Deebo Samuel, claiming he, “can’t really see a difference,” per Pro Football Talk. Although the news regarding Garoppolo's injured hand hasn't been great, his teammates are seeing him perform well during practice. There is still time before the Week 18 matchup against the Rams, so the 49ers will be monitoring their quarterbacks throughout the week.
Trey Lance filled in as the starter in Week 17 and played well. It wasn't anything spectacular, but the 49ers have to be confident about their future. Lance looks like a solid prospect and could be in line to be an elite quarterback in 2022. For now though, the starting job belongs to Garoppolo when he's healthy.
