The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly going to take running back Christian McCaffrey off the field more than the Carolina Panthers did to keep him healthy throughout the season, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.

The 49ers and head coach Kyle Shanahan are conscious of Christian McCaffrey's injury history, and they want to keep him healthy for the season. They will use either Elijah Mitchell or Tyrion Davis-Prince when McCaffrey is off of the field.

With the 49ers having the talent to compete, even with McCaffrey potentially taking reduced snaps this year.

Either way, it will be interesting to see where McCaffrey's numbers land in his first full season with the 49ers. Kyle Shanahan has what is regarded as one of the best systems in football, and this is one of the most talented rosters in the league. McCaffrey might not have the most touches, but it would not be a surprising if he has the most efficient season in his career in 2023.

It will be interesting to see how much run Elijah Mitchell and Tyrion Davis-Prince get this season as well, and who gets more carries out of the two.

Regardless, the 49ers hope to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl this season. Brock Purdy is the starting quarterback and it will be McCaffrey's first full season with the team. The 49ers have gotten close before, with the 2019 season being their best shot. The team looks a bit different now, but the roster is arguably just as good and capable of winning a championship.
