During the 2018 season, Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL during Week 3 when the San Francisco 49ers were going head to head with the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. Garoppolo and Mahomes didn't know each other at the time, but the Chiefs star quarterback paid him a visit trying to give him some encouragement.

Garoppolo knows that isn't something that Mahomes didn't need to do, but left a lasting impression. Now as the 49ers and Chiefs get ready to face each other in the Super Bowl, Garoppolo took some time to look back at that moment.

“I didn’t even know Pat at the time,” Garoppolo said via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “For him to come out of his way after the game and wish me luck and everything, just a real class act. The guy is awesome on the field, off the field, he does it all.”

Garoppolo admits that the two haven't been able to build on their friendship, but admits that moment has put a good lasting memory in his head.

“For him to do something as simple as that, it went a long way,” Garoppolo said.

With the extra week heading into the Super Bowl, there is more talk about these little storylines, but when the two guys step onto the field there is going to be no love lost.

There are a lot of keys for each team surrounding the Super Bowl, but at the end of the game, it could come down to the quarterbacks, so which friend is going to come out on top?
