The San Franciso 49ers made everybody happy by selecting talented quarterback Trey Lance third overall in the 2021 NFL Draft out of North Dakota State. Lance is all set to take over as the franchise quarterback in San Francisco for years to come, although that might not happen just yet with Jimmy Garoppolo on board.
Well, that is until Tuesday, when Lance took his first-ever first-team reps at training camp and dazzled in his opportunity.
Trey Lance just tossed a perfectly placed deep TD pass to WR Trent Sherfield, three snaps after taking his first training-camp snap behind the first-team offensive line. Go crazy, folks. #49ers

This comes as a bit of a surprise due to the fact that the Niners have been constantly echoing that Garoppolo would be the starter when the season kicks off. However, with a couple of NFL teams needing quarterbacks– specifically the Indianapolis Colts– there is a possibility that Garoppolo could become a trade candidate.
This could end up being nothing except the Niners wanting Lance to get a bit familiar with the first-team group, but it could hint at something down the road, at the very least.
So far, he had made a good impression at Niners camp.

With a month to go before the season begins, it is very likely that the Niners could reverse course and peg Lance as the starter for the first game of the season.
Either way, it is fun to see NFL fans and 49ers fans hyped up on the excitement of Trey Lance.
