The San Francisco 49ers entered the game down Dee Ford in their pass-rushing department and they'll add even more names to that list. After coming into the game for Nick Bosa — who was carted off early in the game — Solomon Thomas was also carted off with an injury versus the New York Jets, per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports.

The last thing the 49ers need during this week's contest is more injuries to arise. Heading into Sunday's game, San Francisco is already without George Kittle and Deebo Samuel on the offensive side of the ball.

Then, on the defensive side of the ball, Richard Sherman and Ford were both ruled out in Week 2. Now, early in their bout with the Jets, San Francisco's defense has taken a massive hit with Bosa and Solomon Thomas being carted off of the field.

Of course, it will be worth monitoring Bosa's injury, as him missing an extended period of time could be detrimental for the 49ers. However, it isn't a positive development to see his replacement in Thomas go down with an injury either.

Solomon Thomas was the No. 3 pick in the famed 2017 NFL Draft that included the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. Unlike Mahomes and Watson though, Thomas has failed to deliver on the expectations that come with being a first-round pick.

In his first three seasons in the NFL, Thomas has logged only six sacks in his career. Still, losing both Bosa and Thomas in the same game could be an awful development for the 49ers this season. With Thomas and Bosa out, San Francisco will rely on Arik Armstead and Kerry Hyder off of the edge.
