VIDEO: 49ers RB Jeff Wilson hurts himself after scoring career-best 3rd TD vs. Patriots
The San Francisco 49ers faced off with the New England Patriots in Week 7. In a matchup of two teams that have dealt with a lot of injuries and had disappointing seasons, you’re bound to see something wild.
That’s exactly what Jeff Wilson brought to the table. The San Francisco running back enjoyed a massive career day that included his first-career 100-yard rushing game. It also featured his first three-touchdown performance of his career.
Sadly, on the last of those three touchdowns, Wilson suffered an injury.

The video cuts off before you really see much, but it is clear that Wilson is grabbing for something.
As he made his way into the end zone, the running back was twisted around as the defender tried to tackle him. It appears while that was happening, something went wrong with Wilson’s leg. He clearly grabs for his ankle/calf area.
As you can see, the touchdown officially made this game blowout territory. By the time the extra point was kicked, the 49ers had a 30-6 lead. Since then, they’ve tacked on three more for a commanding 33-6 lead over New England.
Due to that, they will likely want to rest some players and make sure no more injuries occur. Wilson ended up getting carted off the field, so not only is his day done, but it is not looking all that optimistic in regards to his immediate future.
Hopefully it is not as serious as it appears and the running back is back on the field soon enough.
It is pretty obvious that Wilson was gaining a lot of momentum. Let’s all hope that the rest of this game can go by without any further incident and that Wilson’s injury is not nearly as bad as it looks.
The Patriots will be moving to 2-4 on the year and the 49ers bump up to 4-3. However, the loss of Wilson severely dampens the excitement of a big W for San Francisco.
