During an interview with Busted Open Radio, AEW owner and president Tony Kahn announced that the battle royale–taking place on Wednesday night to determine who will face Jon Moxley in the main event of Dynamite in Kansas City–will be a casino battle royale.  The winner of the main event will take on Hiroshi Tanahashi at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door at the end of the month for the interim AEW World Championship.

The casino battle Royale is a match that typically takes place at AEW Double or Nothing, but did not do so this late last month. The match is famous for having a ‘joker' wrestler in the match. ‘The joker' is a wrestler not scheduled for the match and is typically either a return or a debut. In the interview with Busted Open Radio, Khan did not say if there was a joker for the Wednesday match or not.

However, he did announce that there will be another exciting match on AEW Dynamite with Buddy Matthews taking on PAC in a singles match. This would indicate that the feud between the house of black and death triangle is not finished quite yet. House of black defeated death triangle at Double or Nothing, after Julia Hart was revealed to be a part of the group, spitting mist into PAC's eyes, and allowing house of black to pick up the victory.

Hangman Adam Page and NJPW's David Finley are still scheduled to face off Wednesday night, but that was before the announcement of CM Punk's injury and the battle royale taking place. Page lost the AEW World Championship against Punk at Double or Nothing, and it is unknown if he will be in the battle royale.
