Age of Empires 4 release date will be coming this October, revealed during the Xbox presentation during E3 2021. The gameplay trailer from the presentation shows us what we should look forward to. Spoiler alert: it's everything we could wish for in an Age of Empires game.

Age of Empires 4 Release Date: October 28, 2021

Age of Empires 4 will once again feature historical characters, allowing us to lead armies to history's biggest battles. Players will get their hands on the RTS epic on October 28, 2021. Basing on the game's trailer, we're still playing most of the game in the medieval era, so expect a lot of swords and arrows. However, there are also glimpses of muskets, cannons, and ship battles. It looks like the game will touch on the late parts of the medieval period as well. The game will be released on PC and will be available through the Xbox Game Pass.

Meanwhile, we can also see various gameplay footage on the game's Steam page, where you can now pre-order Age of Empires 4. Based on one of the videos, one of the scenarios takes place in the Dark Ages, where you get to play as either the French or the English. In another, we see one of the campaigns that will be featured in the game: the Norman Invasion of 1066, which takes a crescendo in the Battle of Hastings. Aside from Europe, some of the campaigns also take place in Asia, particularly the Delhi Sultanate and China.

What's fascinating from the latest game in the Age of Empires series is its reworked buildings, which now seem to be more complex than ever before. We've seen in some gameplay footage how castle walls can now break into pieces when under siege. We're excited to play the new Age of Empires game at this scale when it comes out this October.
