With SEC Media Days in the rearview, the focus of college football fans will turn to the conference's preseason media polls, which were released on Friday. To the surprise of no one, Alabama football was selected to win the 2022 SEC Championship for the seventh straight year.

The Crimson Tide won the battle, securing last year's SEC Championship with a win over the Georgia Bulldogs, though they lost the war, losing to those same Bulldogs in the College Football National Championship.

After bringing in the nation's second-ranked recruiting class in the 2022 offseason, per 247 Sports, Nick Saban's Crimson Tide will be looking to roll to their fourth SEC title in the last five years. Challengers such as Georgia and the Texas A&M Aggies will be right behind the Crimson Tide.

However, there's a reason why Alabama football has dominated the media polls in recent years. That said, here's why the Crimson Tide will win the 2022 SEC Championship.

Why Alabama Football Will Win 2022 SEC Championship

3. Overwhelming SEC talent

Alabama football dominated the 2022 Preseason All-SEC team, as they garnered 20 selections, with Georgia and Texas A&M bringing in 18 combined. Think about that for a second. Those are the two most realistic challengers to the Crimson Tide.

They're undoubtedly talented- and this is really the opinion of the writers more than anything. But that is a significant talent gap.

The Crimson Tide's All-SEC honors included four players on both sides of the ball. With that kind of talent, Alabama could roll to an SEC title in 2022.

2. Two legitimate Heisman Trophy candidates

Usually, a college football team is fortunate to have one contender for the Heisman Trophy on their roster. Alabama football has not one, but two candidates for the trophy in 2022: star quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson.

Young secured the Heisman Trophy in 2021 after a magical season that saw him throw for 4872 yards, 47 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Meanwhile, Anderson plowed through opposing offensive linemen en route to a 101-tackle, 17.5-sack season.

That means that, in addition to the tremendous depth they possess on both sides of the ball, they also happen to have two cornerstone talents at key positions.

No other team in the SEC can say that they have that level of talent on their roster in 2022.

1. The Nick Saban effect

Ahead of SEC Media Days, Nick Saban spoke about the biggest obstacle facing the Crimson Tide in 2022. He didn't mention a specific team, though he undoubtedly knows who the program will have to go through to get where they want to go. No, Saban mentioned one opponent in particular: complacency.

Saban said that “a lot of bad things can happen if you're not mature enough to handle success.” That's the mindset of a coach who has won three national championships since the 2015 season.

Nick Saban simply won't let his team sit back and appreciate what they've done for too long- or worse, think they can rest on their laurels.

That's why he's the best in the business. It's also why Alabama football will win the SEC Championship in 2022.
