The Los Angeles Angels are struggling to say the very least, and it doesn't look like firing Joe Maddon gave the team any immediate relief. He was fired following the team's series opener against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Now, after losing Game 2 of the series Tuesday night, the Angels are on a 13-game losing streak.

As one of the most star-studded teams in the MLB, why haven't the Angels won a game since the end of May? According to Shohei Ohtani, the problem lies much deeper than the general manager position. He spoke of Maddon's firing before Tuesday night's matchup, acknowledging the players' contribution to their recent failures.

The Athletic's Sam Blum tweeted Ohtani's honest admission.

“Obviously this is not all Joe’s fault. Players are, myself, in part to blame, because I was underperforming. I just want to say thank you to Joe, I appreciate for everything he’s done for me.”

Despite being one of the biggest names in the league, Ohtani has struggled recently. He has two runs, zero home runs, and zero RBIs in the Angels' last eight games, striking out ten times.

Meanwhile, other stars are working through their own individual slumps. Mike Trout just broke his eight-game home run drought in the Tuesday night loss. He has two runs, one home run, and two RBIs in the Angels' last nine games, striking out ten times.

The Angels will attempt to shift the momentum with their first win in June Wednesday night against the Red Sox.
