The Angels big bats took care of business in Los Angeles's 11-3 victory over the Rays. Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout led the charge, as the star-studded duo hit back-to-back homers in the 6th inning.

The home runs broke the game open, but Shohei Ohtani and the Angels were far from done scoring in this ballgame. With the bases loaded in the 7th, Ohtani stepped to the plate. The Angels superstar had never hit a grand slam and the announcers alluded to the fact that now would be a great time for his first bases loaded jack. Sure enough, on a 3-1 count, the reigning AL MVP clubbed a pitch to left field for his first ever grand slam.

Shohei Ohtani reacted to the moment following the game.

“Honestly I didn’t know it was my first one. In my head I thought I hit one in Japan, but I guess not,” Ohtani remarked. “I wasn’t expecting to hit two home runs.”

Ohtani had been slumping prior to his huge performance on Monday evening. Angels manager Joe Maddon commented on his improved approach at the plate.

“He has booked better. I mean, when the ball is going on left center, he just been a little bit underneath everything and now the angles have gotten better off the bat. If we could keep them right there for the next several months.”

Jared Walsh joined Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani with home runs in the game. The Halos offense got the job done and it is clear that this lineup is one of the best in baseball.
