The Chicago Bears have nothing to play for in the standings in Week 18 against the Green Bay Packers. However, the NFC North squad can not only play spoiler against a hated rival, but the pressure is on head coach Matt Eberflus, quarterback Justin Fields, and other Bears players to put one more good game on tape to keep their jobs next season. With that in mind, here are the last-minute Bears injury updates on cornerback Jaylon Johnson, running back Khalil Herbert, and tight end Cole Kmet.

Just ahead of the Bears-Packers Week 18 tilt, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero noted that Khalil Herbert is active for the game, while Jaylon Johnson is not. Prior to that, CBS Sports reported that Cole Kmet will play as well.

This is good news for Justin Fields, as he will now have his leading rusher (Herbert is second on the team to Fields himself) and his second-leading pass-catcher, Kmet, for his final audition to keep the Bears starting QB job in 2024 and maybe beyond.

Sunday’s game is in Wisconsin, and Chicago comes in as a three-point underdog. Plus, the Packers are in must-win mode in Week 18. If they win this game, they get into the playoffs. After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints won in the early window, a W against the Bears is now the Packers' only path to the postseason.

As for the Bears, after a 1-5 then 2-7 start to the season, the team is now 5-2 in their final seven games, and finishing 8-9 on the year will give Bears fans and the front office some optimism for 2024.
