The Miami Dolphins are looking to trade wide receiver Jarvis Landry, so much so that they’ve granted permission to Landry and his camp to find potential trade partners. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Chicago Bears could potentially be the next destination of the Pro Bowl receiver.

Landry is looking for a long-term deal, which will likely be a significant factor to where he eventually ends up next. The Bears have a lot of cap space this offseason and would have the money available to give Landry the contract he wants.

Moreover, the Bears would be an ideal landing spot for Landry because they have a pressing need for wideouts to surround young quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Former first-round pick Kevin White can’t stay on the field, while Cameron Meredith remains largely unproven and is coming off a torn ACL. Kendall Wright, last year’s top receiver, is a free agent.

Landry is coming off another strong season for the Dolphins in 2017. He recorded a career-high 112 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns, which is also a new career-best.

Landry is not a big-play, deep threat out wide, but the Bears don’t necessarily need him to be that type of receiver, especially with Meredith set to return. They would be content with playing Landry to his strengths in the slot, where he can provide Trubisky a reliable pair of hands to throw to on a consistent basis.

It remains to be seen what it would take for the Dolphins to agree to a trade. But given the Bears’ big need for pass-catchers, it’s not hard to see them going as high as a second-rounder to get a deal done.
