According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Chicago Bears linebacker Leonard Floyd underwent surgery on his hand Sunday.

Floyd was injured during the Bears' second preseason game against the Denver Broncos. He was cut block by Broncos tackle Garrett Bolles, and when he braced himself for the fall, went down first. According to Bears coach Matt Nagy, the injury hurt his index and middle finger, but they still expect him to return for the Bears' first regular season game. Nagy said that Floyd is staying positive and trying to keep the right mindset.

“He’s staying positive,” Nagy said via The Chicago Tribune. “He’s in good spirits. Yesterday the surgery went well for him, as good as it could go. So now it’s just a matter of having the right mindset, recovering from the surgery and staying in it mentally.”

There is a chance he might have to wear a club to be able to play in the first game of the season.

“It might require something in regards to having a cast or club type deal,” Nagy said. “There’s been evidence of guys that have had that and been productive, so that’s what we’re hoping right now.”

The Bears are thin at linebacker already with questions surrounding Aaron Lynch's health, which makes it even more important that Floyd is ready to go for Week 1. If he isn't ready, the Bears could have some issues with depth until he returns.
