The Chicago Bears' free agency signings this NFL offseason haven't exactly gotten acclimated to the franchise quite the way new general manager Ryan Poles had hoped. Wide receiver Byron Pringle, who signed with the Bears in March, was arrested in April for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. Linebacker Matt Adams, who followed head coach Matt Eberflus from the Colts to the Bears this offseason, was arrested Thursday night and charged with misdemeanor illegal gun possession and possessing a high-capacity magazine and metal-piercing bullets, according to police.
Per the Times, Adams was arrested and charged with misdemeanor illegal gun possession, as well as possessing a high-capacity magazine and metal-piercing bullets.
Article Continues BelowAs stated in the Times, possessing a high-capacity magazine and metal-piercing bullets within the city limits of Chicago is a municipal code violation. The Bears defender, who has a license for the gun- not in Chicago- was arrested after questioning.
He has a court date scheduled for August 24. Adams, who was signed to a one-year contract back in April, was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts back in 2018. He spent much of his time as a special teamer with the Colts, though he is familiar with new Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, who was his defensive coordinator with Indy.
