The 2024 Euros continue as Belgium faces Romania in the Group Stage on Saturday in Germany. We're here to share our 2024 Euro odds series, make a Belgium-Romania prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

Belgium suffered the shocker of the Euro Cup as they fell 1-0 to Slovakia in the first match. Shockingly, Slovakia scored a goal in the seventh minute when Ivan Schranz got one through. The Belgians could not do anything to tie it as Romelu Lukaku and Lois Openda struggled. Ultimately, Lukaku finished with four shots, including two on target while Openda did not manage a single shot.

Romania is coming off its first Euro Cup victory in 24 years after dispatching Ukraine 3-0. Things were silent for a while, but then everything changed in the 29th minute when Nicolae Stanciu delivered on target to put the Romanians on the board. Later, in the second half, Razvan Marin delivered with a beautiful finish to make it 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Romania finished it off four minutes later when Denis Dragus came off a pass from Dennis Man to put the ball through the net.

The teams have played 12 matches in their history, with each country winning five, with the other two being a draw. However, they have not faced off since 2012.

Why Belgium Will Win

Belgium looks to keep things going as they have done nothing but thrive. Ultimately, they generated 20 points because of six wins and two draws.

Goalkeeper Koen Casteels looks to keep things going and stop every shot that comes his way. Significantly, he will need some help from his defense. Timothy Castagne and Jan Vertonghen lead the defense and will look to stuff Romania's offense.

Kevin Du Bruyne is the best midfielder on the team. His ability to move the ball across the field has substantially helped Belgium tenfold over the years, as they have been able to generate some offense. When he is on fire, he is able to get it to the strikers, and they have one of the best strikers in the world.

Lukaku is something to behold. He has a chance to make history and become a top-3 goal-scorer in European Cup history. But he started the Euro Cup slowly and will look to do more. Additionally, Openda hopes to get a shot on target.

Belgium will win this matchup if its midfield can bring some heat and control possession. Once they do that, it can pass to Lukaku and Openda, who will score.

Why Romania Will Win

Romania is the heavy underdog in this one. Unfortunately, no one really sees them doing anything in this one. It is their first time in the Group Stage since 2000. However, there is hope. Romania did not lose any of the qualifying matches and will be ready to play. Ultimately, they need to figure out a way to control the pace.

What works for them is their elite defense. Overall, they have defenders who can keep pace with anyone, which is why they were able to get here to begin with. They entered the Euros with .5 goals per game, which was only third behind Portugal and France. But they struggled with just one win over 16 matches.

Goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan is the key here. Substantially, he needs to be sharp, but his defenders must also help. Radu Dragusin and Andrei Burca must step up to the pitch. If they can hold back Lukaku and Openda, their offense will have more opportunities.

The midfielders have the most opportunities on offense. Stanciu scored in the opener and would love to do it again. Likewise, we may see what Ianis Hagi, Darius Olaru, and Florimel Coman can do.

But there aren't many options for forwards. Significantly, George Puscas is the only legitimate threat in the forward group unless someone else can step up. Puscas had 11 goals for Romania and will look to score more.

Final Belgium-Romania Prediction & Pick

Romania is stout on defense. However, they may lack the offensive firepower to keep up with Belgium. While their defense may bend but not break for the majority of the match, it will eventually fall to the skills and talents of Lukaku and Openda. Consequently, there will be a time in the match when Belgium finally breaks through and gets a goal. Belgium likely gets at least two goals in this match on their way to a victory after initially struggling to get through.
