Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow wants to make sure his squad goes into their huge matchup against the Green Bay Packers with the right mentality. The Bengals are sitting at the top of the AFC North Division after two huge back-to-back wins but according to their signal-caller, he's still not satisfied with how his team has been performing – especially with how they start games.
“We can't start slow the way we did last week,” Burrow said (via cincinnati.com). “If we start slow like that, we'll be down 21-0 before we can blink. So, we're gonna have to come out fast.”
The 24-year-old is referring to Cincinnati's game last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars where their slow start almost caused them the game. Especially now that the Bengals are a few days away from hosting a tough Green Bay Packers squad led by reigning three-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.
“We've just got to execute better,” Burrow added. “Execute better on third down, be more efficient on first and second down. We haven't scored many points, if any, in the first quarter that I can remember. We've got to be better in that area. Once we get that, we'll be rolling.”
The Packers have also been on quite a roll. After a heartbreaking opening day loss, Rodgers and his team has bounced back to three straight wins. But, Burrow says, his team is definitely ready for the upcoming Week 5 duel.
“We're excited to play this game,” the Bengals QB said. “They're a really good team, have been for a really long time. They're coming in here and we're gonna have to be ready to play. They're not going to roll over and let us beat them. They're gonna make us beat them. They're not gonna lose the game, that's for sure.”
