A.J. Green's long-awaited return to the field for the Cincinnati Bengals finally occurred today against the Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, his return was short and he has already been carted off the field after what appeared to be yet another foot injury. Even more discouragingly, the injury occurred in a non-contact situation.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Green was carted off the field. This is terrible news for a Bengals' team that was hoping to get Green back to help make a playoff push late in the season.

In a video posted by Warren Sharp, Green can be seen crumpling to the ground holding his foot after his initial steps on a route. The injury did not look good, to say the least.

Before the injury, Green had caught one pass for seven yards. Cincinnati will now hope that the injury looked worse than it actually was.

Green had missed some time coming into this game due to a toe injury. Seeing this kind of injury and the way Green went down has to make the Bengals nervous. More than likely, this injury will have a chance to end his season.

If his season is indeed over, Green will finish 2018 with 46 receptions for 694 yards and six touchdowns. He is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, but injuries have really slowed him down.

Cincinnati was already playing without starting quarterback Andy Dalton, who will miss the remainder of the season due to injury as well. Jeff Driskel was the starter and is now without his best receiver.

Tyler Boyd will be asked to step back into the No. 1 receiver role for the Bengals moving forward.

Expect to hear more news about Green in the near future. We will make sure to have updates as they become available.
