Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green has continued to recover from an ankle injury that’s kept him away from football since July, but that seems to be changing now. According to Bengals beat writer Geoff Hobson, Green is preparing to practice on a very limited basis Thursday, with Ian Rapoport also noting that while Green won’t play this week, there’s a chance he could next week.

While it remains to be seen just how much Green will be practicing, it’s an important step for the player to finally make it back onto the field. As Green prepares to practice, the rumors surrounding his time with the Bengals are beginning to swirl. Green recently said that he hasn’t heard anything about being traded, but is prepared for anything that may happen.

Whether or not Green gets traded, the superstar wide receiver would still likely prefer to be playing, and practicing is the first step to realizing that. With the trade deadline set for October 29, that would leave Green plenty of time to get some game action on film for potential teams looking to make a move.

When healthy, Green has proven to be one of the best wide receivers in football, and as the 31-year old continues to recover from his injury, it’s likely that any team he plays for this year will be much better with him. A handful of teams in the league could certainly use his services, including the Bengals, who are struggling to find their first win of the season.
