Throughout much of the NFL offseason, there have been many notable players around the league vying for new lucrative contracts with their respective teams.

Among those that have taken the approach has been Cincinnati Bengals veteran defensive end Carlos Dunlap, who is currently in the final year of his five-year, $39.3 million deal. With that in mind, Dunlap has made it clear that he strongly desires a new long-term extension to remain with the Bengals. (h/t Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk)

The 29-year-old has provided a steady source of production throughout his career with the Bengals currently ranking as the all-time franchise leader with 64.5 sacks and 16 forced fumbles. He has recorded at least 6.0 sacks in all but one of his first eight years in the league while earning a pair of Pro Bowl selections in the process.

Dunlap is still in the prime of his career and has proven to be a valuable part of the Bengals defensive front alongside Pro Bowl defensive tackle Geno Atkins over the last several years. He has also been quite durable over his career that has seen him play in every game in each of the last five seasons while missing just 10 contests over his entire NFL tenure.

This may simply come down to Dunlap proving on the field in 2018 that he can still produce at a high level that should put him in line for the lucrative long-term deal that he's aiming to land.
