The Cincinnati Bengals hired Jim Turner to be their offensive line coach and almost immediately head coach Zac Taylor had to defend the hire. Turner has had a few scandals in his past that have made many question why Taylor would want him on the staff.

Turner was fired by the Miami Dolphins for participating in a bullying scandal that included Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin and was also suspended while at Texas A&M for using sexual language at a football clinic for women.

Taylor said he doesn't have any issues with Turner's past and he knows that he has made the right decision in hiring him.

“On the surface sometimes things look a certain way,” Taylor said via cincinnati.com. “I feel very comfortable with the decision to bring him in. I anticipated something like this and felt very comfortable. Maybe if I didn’t know someone who had been through those situations. But I know it. And I know him. And I know what he is all about. And I feel very comfortable and know that this is the right decision.”

Taylor has basically had Turner around him his entire coaching career and made it clear that he would never do anything to tarnish the reputation of the Bengals franchise.

“We talk about culture and bringing the right people in this building,” Taylor said. “I would never do anything to tarnish the reputation of the Brown family and this organization if I didn’t believe in the person and know the person inside and out.”
