A.J. Green was forced to miss the Cincinnati Bengals' Week 10 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints due to a toe injury. He has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but this one was expected to keep him out until December. Now, there seems to be some hope in Cincinnati that he could return sooner than expected.

According to a report from Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Bengals' head coach Marvin Lewis is hoping that Green will be able to play this week against the Baltimore Ravens.

Getting Green back this week would be a huge relief for the Bengals. They are currently 5-4 on the season and are in the AFC playoff race. In order to make a run at the playoffs, the Bengals are going to need Green on the field and making an impact.

Throughout the eight games that he has played with the Bengals this season, Green has caught 45 passes for 687 yards and six touchdowns.

Cincinnati has seen Tyler Boyd step up in a big way this season. Boyd is better served as a No. 2 receiver, but if Green is forced to miss more time, the Bengals will feel comfortable with him as their top target.

At 30 years old, Green is in his prime but he is beginning to age a bit. Cincinnati cannot afford to have him continually dealing with nagging injuries. Hopefully, his toe injury will end up healing quicker than expected and he will be able to get back on the field this week.

Expect to hear more information about Green's injury as the week moves forward. Even if he isn't able to play against the Ravens, Lewis' hope that he could play says good things about his chances to play the following week at least.
