Cincinnati Bengals tight end Cethan Carter has had bad luck with injuries. That proved to be true again on Saturday in Cincinnati's preseason matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Carter was forced to leave the game with a neck strain.

This is just another injury causing a setback for the tight end. Carter missed all of last year due to a preseason injury. Hopefully we aren't looking at more of the same.

Cethan Carter entered the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2017. That year he appeared in all 16 games for the team, but was almost exclusively a special teams man. In fact, as a tight end he had more tackles (9) than he did targets (1) on the year.

The next season ended before it even started with the injury in a preseason game. Now this.

A neck strain clearly isn't an ideal injury, but it likely won't end his season either, certainly not right now. Maybe if more injuries pile on top of it, but it's relatively minor in and of itself.

However, it's still not great news for Carter. Due to missing all of last year with an injury, he's not up to speed with everyone else.

You'd have to imagine that a tight end used almost exclusively on special teams in his rookie year — and who hasn't played a game since — isn't the safest name on a roster. A big training camp and preseason could help him not only win a spot on the team, but give him extra playing time as well.

This is another annoying setback in his young career. Hopefully, the injury is nothing too serious. Provided it is easy to come back from, Cethan Carter can finally get a chance to prove what he can do in the NFL.
