Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict appears to have avoided a suspension for his dirty hit on Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown on Sunday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Burfict is not expected to be suspended for his actions in Week 6. However, there are several plays that will be reviewed by the NFL for a potential fine.

Bengals oft-suspended LB Vontaze Burfict is not expected to be suspended for his actions on Sunday, but I’m told there are several plays that will be reviewed for a potential fine. Presumably, one is an elbow to Antonio Brown's head.

This is nothing new for Vontaze Burfict, who is arguably the dirtiest player in the league. He has a long history, particularly with the Steelers, of taking cheap shots on players who are in defenseless positions.

Since entering the league in 2012, Burfict has been suspended three separate times for a total of 12 games. He's also been fined four times for a grand total of $181,608.

Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert told reporters after Pittsburgh's win that Burfict should be suspended for his elbow hit on Brown.

“That's pathetic. The NFL has to do something about that,” Gilbert said, via ESPN.com. “A guy like that, going out there intentionally trying to hurt people, there's no need for that kind of playing in this league. It's sad. One of these days he'll grow up.”

The Bengals take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 on the road on Sunday Night Football.
