The Atlanta Braves take on the New York Mets. Our MLB odds series has our Braves Mets prediction, odds and pick. Find out how to watch Braves Mets.

The New York Mets were 2-5 at home against the Atlanta Braves in the 2023 MLB season. They have now lost their first two home games versus the Braves in 2024. New York's pitching has been fine. The Mets have limited Atlanta to four runs in each of the first two games of this series, but the Mets didn't score more than two runs in either of those same two games. The Mets, who had won 12 of 15 games earlier this season and won road series against the Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers, have gone downhill since then and are now 18-20 through 38 games, trying to avoid a sweep at the hands of Atlanta.

When the Mets lost their first five games of the season, they couldn't hit anything. In their recent downward turn, their hitting has struggled. The Mets have lost multiple 3-1 and 4-2 games over the past two and a half weeks. They also endured a 1-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs. They have had some good offensive games, but their offense comes and goes and doesn't remain a consistent feature of who they are. New York has to be able to score at least four runs in most of the games it plays, but that has been a chore for this team. We will see if the Mets can once again contain Atlanta's powerful batting order, but this time take advantage of it with timely offense, which we haven't seen the past two days.

Why The Braves Could Cover The Spread

The Braves were 10-3 against the Mets last year and 5-2 versus New York on the road. They won the first two games of this series. The scary-good thing about the Braves and their season is that they are 24-12 — a .667 winning percentage and a 108-win pace — with Matt Olson hitting terribly and Austin Riley producing far less than what was expected of him. The Braves aren't hitting anywhere close to what they hoped to in 2024, and yet their pitching staff plus Marcell Ozuna and Travis D'Arnaud have carried them through the first month and a half of the season. Just wait until Olson and Riley join the fray and get back to being the fearsome hitters they were in 2023. The Braves are winning without playing their best baseball. They are far better than the Mets and should be able to take care of business yet again.

Why The Mets Could Cover The Spread

The Mets have been able to limit Atlanta's bats. They can do that one more time, but on this occasion, they will finally score some runs. They will score at some point. They aren't going to get shut down in every game.

Final Braves-Mets Prediction & Pick

Stay away from this game. The Mets are mediocre, but they're trying to avoid a sweep and might salvage one game in the series. The game feels like a coin flip.

Final Braves-Mets Prediction & Pick: Braves -1.5
