The Los Angeles Angels will attempt to get a win as they face the Baltimore Orioles for the third of a four-game set at Camden Yards. It's time to continue our MLB odds coverage with an Angels-Orioles prediction and pick.

The Orioles rallied from behind to stun the Angels 5-4 in a fantastic walk-off win. Things started badly for Baltimore in the third inning when Mike Trout lifted a three-run bomb into the short porch in left field for a home run. It was his 24th in 2022, giving the Angels the 3-0 lead. Later, Shohei Ohtani approached the plate with the Angels leading 3-2 and blasted a shot to deep center field for a home run. It was his 18th in 2022, giving the Angels a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Closer Raisel Iglesias got the first two outs and looked to be about to pick up another save. Then, things unraveled. Rougned Odor cracked a single to left field. Next, Odor stole second and third base. Adley Rutschman blasted an RBI double that brought Odor home to cut the deficit to 4-3. Then, Cedric Mullins clipped an RBI single that scored Rutschman and advanced to second on the throw. Finally, Trey Mancini clipped a walk-off single into left, securing the shocking win.

Reid Detmers was fantastic for the Angels in his return to the majors, tossing six scoreless innings. However, the bullpen did not support him at all. Jose Quijada allowed a run in the seventh inning. Next, Ryan Tepera allowed a run in the eighth inning. These two relievers set the stage for an even bigger collapse from a once-reliable Iglesias, who is having arguably the worst season of his career.

Patrick Sandoval will go for the Angels today. Sandoval is 3-3 with a 3.09 ERA. He tossed five innings in his last start, allowing five earned runs on eight hits, including a home run and two walks. Sandoval is 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA in six starts on the road. He had a hard-luck June, going 0-1 despite a 2.49 ERA in four June starts. Sandoval faced the Orioles earlier this season, going five innings while allowing two earned runs on two hits and five walks.

Dean Kremer will go for the Orioles. Kremer is 2-1 with a 2.48 ERA. Additionally, he is 0-1 with a 4.80 ERS in three starts at Camden Yards. Kremer went 4 2/3 innings in his last outing while allowing five earned runs on eight hits. He has never faced the Angels.

Why The Angels Could Cover The Spread

Article Continues Below

The Angels need someone other than Trout or Ohtani to do something. The attention falls squarely on Taylor Ward and Jared Walsh.

Ward is having the best year of his career, batting .302 with 12 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 42 runs scored. However, he has slowed down significantly since his hot start, as he is batting .245 with two home runs, eight RBIs, and 13 runs scored in 26 games since June 1. Ward must rediscover the magic that helped him get off to a great start. He was a big reason why the Angels were at on point, the second-best team in the American League. It is no coincidence that his injury and subsequent struggles in his return have hindered the Angels. Ward is batting just .217 over his last seven games.

Walsh is batting .247 with 13 home runs, 40 RBIs, and 33 runs scored. However, he is also struggling, batting .087, going 2 for 23 in his last seven games. Walsh needs to pick up the pace and help his team.

Trout and Ohtani cannot do it alone. Ward and Walsh must rediscover their April form. The Angels will cover the spread if Sandoval gets a good performance and if the offense can score more than four runs.

Why The Orioles Could Cover The Spread

The Orioles have done everything right recently. Rutschman and Odor were fantastic last night and a big reason the Orioles are making strides. Rutschman is only hitting .218 with four home runs, 12 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. However, he is executing against the Angels in this series, going 2 for 6 with one home run and two RBIs.

Odor is hitting only .205 with nine home runs, 31 RBIs, and 30 runs scored. However, his hit sparked the rally last night, and his ability to steal second and third base gave the Orioles the confidence they needed.

The Orioles will cover the spread if they get a good outing out of Kremer. Additionally, Rutschman and Odor are the reasons they won yesterday and will need to replicate that against Sandoval.

Final Angels-Orioles Prediction & Pick

The Angels blew a game that teams win 99% of the time last night. They had two outs and no one on with a two-run-lead and found a way to lose.

Final Angels-Orioles Prediction & Pick: Angels: +1.5 (+136)
