Why The Blue Jays Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Toronto Blue Jays have been a slight disappointment so far this season, considering they were the odds-on favorite to win the World Series heading into this year. They currently have a record of 45-41 but are still 16.5 games behind the leader in the AL East, the Yankees. Typically, the Blue Jays scare defenses with their offensive abilities (scoring 4.60 runs per game), but lately that hasn't really been the case. In the last three games, the Jays are averaging just 2.33 runs per game with 0.67 home runs.

The Blue Jays have also had some problems in the pitching department, to the point where they haven't been able to name a starting pitcher until an hour or so before game time (including tonight as the starter is still to be determined). Tonight for the Blue Jays is either going to be hot bats or bust, and I think they're due.

Why The Mariners Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Seattle Mariners are fighting hard to stay in a wild card spot right now as they have an overall record of 44-42 and are sitting in second place in the AL West, 12.0 games behind the Astros. The 25-year-old right-hander Logan Gilbert will get the start on the mound today for the Mariners as he is 10-3 on the year so far, with a 2.61 ERA. One of his few losses was from the Blue Jays, so he'll be eager to get back on home turf and reclaim that win tonight. As long as the Mariners can keep the Blue Jays' bats in check, Seattle could easily roll to a victory.

Final Blue Jays-Mariners Prediction & Pick

The Blue Jays are due for a big game, but I'm not sure this is the one. The Mariners have been playing some incredible baseball lately and the Jays are slowly starting to trend down. With that said, I like that the Jays are in plus money tonight, regardless of knowing who their starter pitcher is or not. This game is easily a toss-up and could either way. In my honest opinion, I would stay away from betting this game at all, but I'm going to take the Blue Jays Moneyline tonight simply because it's much better odds, and we're ultimately here to make some money. They're due, and it can get done here tonight, but don't be surprised if the Mariners take home a win either.
