It is the start of an NL East series as the Washington Nationals visit the Philadelphia Phillies. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Nationals-Phillies prediction and pick.

The Nationals are 25th in runs scored this year while sitting 25th in batting average, 18th in on-base percentage, and 26th in slugging. Luis Garcia has been solid this year. He is hitting .283 with a .336 on-base percentage. He has ten doubles and three home runs, leading to 20 RBIs this year. Further, he has stolen seven bases and scored nine times this year. Scoring is something CJ Abrams has done a lot of this year. He has hit .261 with a .324 on-base percentage. He has stolen eight bases and scored 26 times. Further, Abrams has seven doubles, four triples, and seven home runs, leading to 20 RBIs.

Still, the Nationals have lost both of those starts.

The Phillies are second in the majors in runs scored, while sitting third in batting average, second in on-base percentage, and fifth in slugging. Alec Bohm continues to be impressive. He is hitting .331 on the year with a .400 on-base percentage. Bohm has 16 doubles, a triple, and four home runs. This has led to 35 RBIs. Bohm has also scored 22 times this year. Driving in runs is something Bryce Harper has done well this year. He is hitting .271 on the year with a .387 on-base percentage. Harper has six doubles and ten home runs this year, leading to his 32 RBIs. He also has scored 25 times.
Meanwhile, Kyle Schwarber and Bryson Stott are also playing great this year. Schwarber is hitting just .225, which is a solid average for him. He is getting on base at a .333 rate, with nine home runs. He has scored 33 times and driven in 26. Stott has hit .276 on the year with a .388 on-base percentage. The Phillies are just the better team in this one. Jake Irvin has been slid for the Nationals, but Wheeler has been better. The bullpen has improved for the Nationals, but the Phillies are better. Then, there is the massive disparity between the two teams at the plate. The Phillies just have more run-producing options. Expect a few home runs and the Phillies to get the win.
