Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowThe Warriors still have a few players in NBA health and safety protocols. Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole and Damion Lee have not been cleared to exit the protocols and re-join the team yet, so they are at least in jeopardy of missing this one, if not likely to. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will look to lead the Warriors to a big win over what could be their top competition out west. The Warriors are 7-3 in their last ten games and have a 14-3 record this season vs. Western Conference opponents. They are 10-4 on the road, and 6-1 in division games.
Golden State should have a good chance to cover and win in this one. They are getting more points than people probably expected, due to being a bit shorthanded. As long as Curry and Green are suiting up, though, taking the Warriors with the points is probably not a bad idea.
Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread
Chris Paul has never done anything but win in the NBA, and that has not changed in Phoenix. After leading the Suns to the NBA Finals last season, Paul and running mate Devin Booker have Phoenix looking like they could be the team to beat out West again this season. The Suns are 8-2 in their last ten games as they continue to roll through their schedule. The Suns are 26-5 entering play on Christmas, which is good enough for the best record in the NBA. Despite losing Booker for a few games with a hamstring injury, the Suns have just kept on winning.
Booker has been back for a few games now and the Suns didn't miss a beat with his return. They are a good candidate to cover and win vs. the Warriors in this one as they should go a bit deeper with at least three Warriors rotation guys likely out. Phoenix is laying a fair amount of points in this spot, but they are good enough to lock in on Curry and take care of business.
Final Warriors-Suns Prediction and Pick
Take the Warriors and points here. The Suns are very good and healthier, but this highly anticipated matchup could come down to the wire. Siding with the points and a team like the Warriors is almost always a decent play, so ride with the underdogs in this Christmas Day matchup.
Final Warriors-Suns Prediction & Pick: Warriors +6.5 (-118)
