The NBA continues Friday night with another interconference matchup! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Clippers-Heat prediction and pick.
Los Angeles comes into this game (25-25) on the season which is good for eighth in the Western Conference. This team does not quit. Just two games ago they were down 35 points and came all the way back to beat the Washington Wizards on the road. They followed that win with another against the Orlando Magic. The NBA did the Clippers dirty with their schedule. They are currently on their sixth game of an eight-game road trip. LA hasn't been home since Jan. 17 and won't return home until Feb. 3.
As for the Miami Heat, they own the East right now with the top record at (31-17). They have won two in a row and are coming off a win over the New York Knicks 110-96. Nobody predicted the Heat to lead the East at any point in the season but they are now and they don't seem like slowing down at all. They just need to get a little healthier to remain consistent.

Why The Clippers Could Cover The Spread
LA is 10-13 on the road this season while the Heat are 17-5 at home. Those are huge difference makers right there and it's going to be tough for LA to win this game. The spread is at seven points here so that is doable for LA to cover. The Clippers are going to once again be without their two stars, but that hasn't stopped them from competing this season. If they win this game they go over .500 for the first time in a long time. The Clippers won this first matchup 112-109 back when Paul George was healthy. It's going to be difficult to win this game on the road without him.
Article Continues BelowLA will need to contain Bam Adebayo and make sure he doesn't control the paint. The Morris twins will not get to play against each other this time as they are both out for different reasons. Miami's Markieff Morris remains out for reconditioning while his twin Marcus is out due to personal reasons. Marcus has been a huge factor for the Clippers and with him out, this seems like a tough game to cover.

Why The Heat Could Cover The Spread
The Heat are favored at home and that is the right call. They control the East right now and they are not slowing down any time soon. Miami knows how important this game is because the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls are right behind them. Even the Cleveland Cavaliers are surging so the Heat need every win they can get. The Heat won't have many stars they have to defend tonight, so they just need to make sure this game doesn't get out of hand on the offensive end. They need to continue shooting the three well and sharing the wealth. Without Kyle Lowry, the offense won't run as smoothly but I still think it will be enough against this Clippers team.
Final Clippers-Heat Prediction & Pick
The Clippers are about even against the spread but the Heat are 29-19 ATS. Both teams are playing well right now but I have to assume the Heat are going to cover this spread. LA is not making it easy for their opponents but with their three best options out, take Miami to cover this spread at home. The over/under is pretty low so consider the over in this game as well.
Final Clippers-Heat Prediction & Pick: Heat -7 (-112) & over: 211 (-110)
