The second week of the NBA season is upon us. The Memphis Grizzlies travel to the bay area to take on the Golden State Warriors. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Grizzlies-Warriors prediction based on Grizzlies Warriors odds.
The Grizzlies are 2-2 after the first week of the season. They started 2-0 but fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in a close one, and played their worst game of the year against the Portland Trail Blazers last night. Ja Morant is averaging 30.5 points per game which leads the NBA. Steph Curry is right behind him at 29 ppg and is third on the list. Morant is also averaging 8.5 assists per game, showing that he is an all-around offensive player. This matchup against Curry will be one for the ages.
The Warriors are hot to start off the season. They are 4-0 after the first week and don't look to be slowing down. A fun fact about the start of the season is that Curry is leading the Warriors in rebounds per game at 8.3. Draymond Green leads the team in assists with 6.8, but most Warrior fans probably aren't surprised with that stat. Golden State will get star Klay Thompson back in a few months, but for now, they are playing very good basketball. With that being said, let's take a look at the Grizzlies-Warriors odds.
Here’s how the bookmakers have set the Grizzlies-Warriors odds:
NBA Odds: Grizzlies-Warriors Odds
Memphis Grizzlies: +5.5 (-108), +190 ML
Golden State Warriors: -5.5 (-112), -230 ML
Over: 228.5 (-110)

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowThe Grizzlies can cover this spread because they are led by one of the best young point guards in the NBA. There isn't anything Morant can't do right now. He will have a difficult task trying to contain Curry, but that won't stop him from establishing himself in this game. The Grizzlies will be without Dillion Brooks, which will be a blow to the offense. Memphis will need to get Jaren Jackson Jr. more involved as he is a crucial part of their success. The team is seeing other players step up like Desmond Bane and Steven Adams. That will need to be a consistent factor moving forward.
The Grizzlies are 3-0 against the spread this year. They are facing a Warriors team that is clicking on all cylinders. If the Grizzlies are playing their best then there is no reason why they can't keep this game close.
Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread
It is tough to stop the Warriors right now. Curry remains unguardable and Morant is going to have a long night. Golden State is seeing success from Andrew Wiggins and Damion Lee. Those two are scoring points and relieving some of the pressure from Curry. They both scored 20 against the Thunder and if that can be a consistent factor then the Warriors could win a ton of games this year. Andre Iguodala is back in the Bay and he alongside Green should improve the Warriors' defense.
The Warriors are 2-2 against the spread this year. It's not easy to go undefeated in the NBA, but the Warriors look like they can win any game they play right now. The Warriors are going to cover this spread if Curry continues to light up the Arena. Green and Wiggins will need to continue their success and if that happens, I don't see the Grizzlies keeping up for the full 48 minutes.
Final Grizzlies-Warriors Prediction & Pick
I expect the Warriors to cover the spread and win this game. The Warriors are playing too well right now to bet against them. Morant will step up and play great as well, but I don't think it will be enough to contain Curry and the Warriors. I think this will be a high-scoring affair, so take the over on this one as well.
FINAL GRIZZLIES-WARRIORS PREDICTION & PICK: Warriors -5.5 (-114) & Over 228.5 (-110)
