The New York Knicks will play the Minnesota Timberwolves in an inter-conference matchup on Tuesday evening. It's time continue our NBA odds series with a Knicks-Timberwolves prediction and pick.

The Knicks and Timberwolves will play on Tuesday as Minnesota continues to be ravaged by absences due to having players in the NBA's health and safety protocols. New York should have an edge in this one as the Timberwolves have several key players likely out in the protocols. Among those players heading into Tuesday are Karl-Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell, Naz Reid and Taurean Prince. Anthony Edwards has reportedly cleared the protocol but will need a ramp-up period before returning to play. On top of all of that, the Timberwolves are on the second game of a back-to-back in this one. The Knicks have been off since their Christmas Day win. New York comes in as solid road favorites vs. the shorthanded Timberwolves in this matchup.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Knicks-Timberwolves odds for this Tuesday NBA matchup.

Why The Knicks Could Cover The Spread

Kemba Walker has been resurgent of late, winning Eastern Conference Player of the Week after previously being benched by the Knicks. New York has won three of their last four games, with Walker throwing in a 44-point game as well as a triple-double over that stretch. The Knicks should be in a good position for a win vs. the shorthanded Timberwolves in this one. All of New York's starters, including Walker and lead-dog Julius Randle, and most of their rotation players are available while Minnesota is in nearly the opposite situation. The Knicks sit as the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 15-18 record entering play on Tuesday.

The Knicks are 14-19 vs. the spread overall this season and 8-7 against it on the road. New York is 10-10 against the spread as a favorite and 4-2 as a road favorite.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

Minnesota will be at a disadvantage in this one after playing on Monday night, already shorthanded as is. The Wolves have won four of their last six games but are now with Towns, Edwards and Russell. This will be a tough spot to cover or win vs. a well-rested Knicks team who has most of their players. New York will run out most of the regulars while the Wolves will be lucky to have three of four of their key rotation guys, barring changes in who's in and out of the protocols on each side. The Timberwolves sit as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference with a 16-17 record heading into this one.

Minnesota vs. the spread

The Timberwolves are 17-16 vs. the spread this season and 9-10 against it at home. Minnesota is 4-4 as a home dog this season, and has covered in six of their last seven games overall.

Final Knicks-Timberwolves Prediction and Pick

Take the Knicks to cover and win here vs. an undermanned Timberwolves team. With so many key players and offensive options out of the lineup for Minnesota, the Knicks should be able to pull away at some point for a comfortable win after two days of rest.

Final Knicks-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick: Knicks -4 (-114)
