Why The Lakers Can Cover The Spread

The Lakers will have a good chance at another win on Thursday when they face the Grizzlies, who will be on the second night of a back-to-back. Memphis saw their five-game win streak get snapped Wednesday vs. the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook will continue to search for improved chemistry as the Lakers look to move up the ladder in the Western Conference standings. James and Davis are listed as probable for this one, so Los Angeles should be in prime position to pick up another win with the rest edge in Memphis on Thursday.

Los Angeles has been much better over their last four games. The Lakers have scored 110 points or more in eight of their last nine games as they seem to be improving offensively. Their defense is still a work in progress but they played a nice all around game on Tuesday in their 117-102 win over the Boston Celtics.

The Lakers are 4-5 on the road and 9-16 against the spread so far this season.

Why The Grizzlies Can Cover The Spread

The Grizzlies had been able to continue winning in the absence of Ja Morant, but that came to an end on Wednesday night in their loss to the Mavericks. Memphis will now face the tough test of facing the Lakers on a back-to-back. Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks have picked up the scoring slack in the absence of Morant. Jackson Jr. has three 25-point games since Morant went out. Guard Tyus Jones has four games of eight assists or more in six games since the injury to Morant, while Bane has led the team in scoring twice in the last three games.

Memphis is 8-6 at home and 15-10 against the spread this season.

Final Grizzlies-Lakers Prediction & Pick

The Lakers have not been good vs. the spread this season, but LeBron James missed a chunk of games. Los Angels is going to win and cover a lot more often when he is in the lineup, and he along with his teammates appear to be charging up for a run up the Western Conference standings. The Lakers sit as the No. 6 seed in the West coming into play on Thursday, one game behind the 14-11 Grizzlies who sit as the No. 4 seed.

Take the Lakers to cover and win in this one, as they will be eager to beat Memphis and pull themselves closer to the top contenders in the West in the standings.

Final Grizzlies-Lakers Prediction & Pick: Lakers -4 (-106)
