The Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks will play on Friday night in an Eastern Conference matchup. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Nets-Hawks prediction and pick.
The Nets and Hawks will meet on Friday for the second time this season. Brooklyn hosted the Hawks on Nov. 3, coming out with a 117-108 win. Kevin Durant scored 32 points in that one, fueling the Nets to the win. Brooklyn sits as the No. 1 seed in the East heading into this matchup. The Hawks are 13-12 and sit as the No. 8 seed in the conference entering play on Friday. The Hawks have been bit by the injury bug a bit of late, but overall still look like they are trending upwards. Trae Young is having the best season of his career so far and looks like one of the better players in the entire NBA. The Hawks come in as slight home favorites over the Nets for this Friday matchup.

Why The Nets Can Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowAny time the Nets come in as underdogs, it's at least a somewhat appealing play. Kevin Durant is playing at an MVP level this season while James Harden has done a solid job quarterbacking the rest of the Nets' offense. Brooklyn looks primed to be one of the top contenders in the East when the postseason rolls around, which comes as little surprise to anyone. The Nets are the current No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference standings and appear to be locked in. They will be without Joe Harris and Kyrie Irving again on Friday, but the Nets have still been able to generate offense without two of their best shooters and scorers. Durant and Harden still make for one of the best 1-2 punches across the league, if not the best. The Nets should have a good shot to cover and win as the better team in this matchup on Friday night.
Brooklyn is 9-3 on the road but just 9-15-1 vs. the spread so far this season.
Why The Hawks Can Cover The Spread
The Hawks have been better of late since bouncing back from a six-game losing streak earlier in the season. Atlanta will be without De'Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic in this one, as both players are out for the immediate future due to injury. Cam Reddish is probable to make his return from a wrist issue on Friday. The Hawks will of course still be lead by Trae Young and John Collins. Young ranks fifth in the NBA in points per game with 26.3 and third in assists with 9.4 per game. He is having a clear cut All-NBA season to this point, and looks like one of the better point guards in all of the NBA. The Hawks are 8-4 at home this season and should have a good shot to cover and win vs. the Nets at home in this one.
Final Nets-Hawks Prediction & Pick
Both of these teams score the ball better than the stop opponents from scoring. The Hawks are at home so they are the favorite, but they are a bit banged up on the wing. This obviously limits the amount of bodies they can throw at Harden and Durant. Take the Nets and the points in this one.
Final Nets-Hawks Prediction & Pick: Nets +1.5 (-106)
