Why The Nuggets Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowJokic is the straw that stirs the drink here, obviously. As long as he is on the floor, Denver has a chance and usually a good one at that. He is on his way to contending for another MVP after winning the award last season. Will Barton and Aaron Gordon will have to continue to step up as secondary pieces in the absence of Porter Jr. and Murray. The Nuggets will look to get back to .500 in this one after losing their last two games. Denver is one of a few Western Conference teams who is battling injuries and not playing up to preseason expectations to this point in the season.
Denver is 5-5 vs. the spread in their last ten games, and 7-10 vs. the number on the road this season. The Nuggets are 6-9 as road favorites and have not covered in three of their last four games.
Why The Clippers Could Cover The Spread
Los Angeles is really shorthanded at the moment. They will be without the following players in this one: Paul George, Isaiah Hartenstein, Reggie Jackson, Kawhi Leonard and Marcus Morris. Ty Lue will be tasked with finding a way to win with yet another star forward sidelined indefinitely. The Clippers are still over .500 this season and will now look to tread water in hopes that one or both of their star players can return by the postseason. Los Angeles will look to attack with a team effort in this one, but it's going to be tough sledding with so many scorers out of the lineup.
The Clippers are 8-12 vs. the spread as the home team this season and 1-1 as home underdogs. Los Angeles is 5-5 vs. the spread in their last ten games and has only covered twice in their past six games overall.
Final Nuggets-Clippers Prediction and Pick
Take the Nuggets to win and cover on the road in this one. Neither of these teams are playing great of late, so take the reigning MVP in this one. Jokic should be able to figure out a way to take down the shorthanded Clippers in this matchup. Denver needs to start racking up the wins if they want to make the playoffs and avoid the play-in games. This is a spot where they should not lose as the Clippers are playing without their top three scorers and some other solid pieces.
Final Nuggets-Clippers Prediction & Pick: Nuggets -4 (-110)
