The Tennessee Titans will take on the New York Jets to help kick off Week 4 of the NFL season. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Titans-Jets prediction and pick.
After a disastrous opening week, the Titans seem to have smoothed things out. Tennessee scored a huge comeback win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 and followed that up with a dominant division win against the Indianapolis Colts. The Titans again look like the team to beat in the AFC South, and that should continue to be the case after this matchup against the Jets.
New York has been one of the most miserable teams in the league to start the season. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson has controlled an offense that hasn't reached the end zone since Week 1. The defense has been torched by three mediocre offensive squads without showing any signs of improvement. Jets fans are in for another rough season, but that's not a huge surprise.
Here's how the bookmakers have set the Titans-Jets odds for Sunday's matchup.
NFL Odds: Titans-Jets Odds
Tennessee Titans -7 1/2 (-110)
New York Jets +7 1/2 (-110)
Over 45 1/2 points (-110)
Under 45 1/2 points (-110)

Why The Titans Could Cover The Spread
This segment could practically go on forever. Tennessee has every advantage in this matchup, but let's start with their offense. The Titans seem to finally be hitting their offensive stride, dropping 33 and 25 points over their last two games, respectively. Running back Derrick Henry is heating up after a monster game against the Seahawks where he accounted for 237 yards and three scores. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has shown the ability to spread the ball around the offense, getting contributions from nine different pass-catchers in Week 3. There's just too much talent here for a hapless Jets defense, so the Titans should have no trouble getting into the end zone in this game.
Tennessee isn't known for their defense, but even the Titans should be able to handle New York's offense with ease. Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen's unit allowed less than 200 passing yards to the Colts last week while also keeping them under 100 yards rushing. While it's true that the Titans were torched on defense by the Arizona Cardinals and the Seahawks, those are two of the best offensive teams in the NFL. The Jets are essentially in a different league when compared to those two. Tennessee should harass Zach Wilson all day and force plenty of turnovers throughout this contest.
Why The Jets Could Cover The Spread
Despite their recent success on offense, the Titans have turned into a turnover-prone team. They've committed seven over three weeks, with six of those coming from the hands of Ryan Tannehill. Pressure has often been Tannehill's undoing, which happens to be perfect for the Jets. New York certainly hasn't been great at rushing the passer, but it's one of the stronger elements of their defense. The Jets have managed to post six sacks and 14 quarterback over three games while Tennessee has allowed 10 sacks and 19 quarterback hits. New York has a legitimate chance to get to Tannehill and win the turnover battle, which could lead to a cover.
One huge advantage that the Jets have in this one is their home field. Ryan Tannehill has always been more comfortable when he plays at home, and his stats certainly reinforce this. The former Miami Dolphin has attempted more passes on the road, but thrown fewer touchdowns and more interceptions away from home. If this trend continues, New York may be able to pull off a cover.
Final Titans-Jets Prediction & Pick
This is an easy pick. The Jets were just obliterated by the Denver Broncos, failing to cover a ten-point spread in that game. Tennessee should win this game by multiple touchdowns. Lock in the Titans and take advantage of the mistake from the bookmakers.
