Why The Avalanche Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Colorado Avalanche have won five of their last six games, all without both Sam Girard and Gabriel Landeskog. The Avs are the odds on favorite to win the Stanley Cup right now, and it shows through their talent and depth. The only concern that the Avs have been if they have peaked too early. They are going to need all the momentum they can get heading into the playoffs, which shouldn't be a problem if they keep playing the way that they have been all season long. Darcy Kuemper will get the start in net for the Avs tonight as he is posting a respectable .923 save percentage while allowing 2.39 goals against per game. He'll look to shut down a hot Wild team who is looking to defend their home ice tonight.

Why The Wild Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Minnesota Wild come into this game in the midst of a nine-game homestand, where they have been dominant all year long, going 22-7-1 on home ice this season. They've picked up their play since their horrific slump in late February, but are still quite a ways back from going toe to toe with the Avalanche. The Wild have a very good hockey club, but lack the consistency and elite talent that other teams have put together quite well. Goaltender Cam Talbot is most likely going to be playing the backup role as the Wild picked up Marc-Andre Fleury at the trade deadline, but tonight, Talbot is starting. He's been very shaky lately (hence the Fleury pick-up), but he's sporting a .910 save percentage while allowing 2.82 goals against per game. He'll have to be on his A-game tonight if he wants to pull off another victory at home tonight.

Final Avalanche-Wild Prediction & Pick

Both of these teams have extremely good offensive capabilities and I have no doubt that they'll both be on display early and often tonight. With that said, it's going to be an easy pick for me today as I'm grabbing a special sneaky play in the FanDuel Sportsbook. The Moneyline Total Goals Parlay is available for the Avalanche Moneyline & Over 5.5 total goals in regulation and it's listed at +210. The only concern with this play is the possibility of overtime, but you can hedge yourself with a small bet on the 3Way Moneyline for Overtime, currently listed at +330.

Ultimately, I think the Avs are going to win. They're most talented and more rested, and I think both offenses are going to excel tonight, which is cause for the Over. There is A LOT of value on the board for this game, where I might sprinkle a unit on the Avs Moneyline as well while it's a rare find to see it so low nowadays at -140. Give me all of it, I love this game.
