Why The Flyers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Philadelphia Flyers come into this game on the tail end of a back-to-back, having lost 6-3 to the Maple Leafs last night. The Flyers have officially decided to tank for Shane Wright this season as they haven't had hopes of the playoffs since the season started. The Flyers have been a good team to fade, betting wise, all season long, and now that they probably won't be trying much for the rest of the year (except for the guys who are looking for a new contract), they'll continue to be a team that's good to fade. With that said, because this is a back-to-back game for them, goaltender Martin Jones should be getting the start between the pipes tonight. Jones currently has a .900 save percentage while allowing 3.40 goals against per game. He'll look to try and keep it close against the Rangers tonight.

Why The Rangers Can Cover The Spread/Win

The New York Rangers are in a fantastic spot here tonight in order to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to the Islanders on Friday. Superstar goaltender Igor Shesterkin is the projected starter for tonight, but it wouldn't surprise me here if Georgiev got the start in order to help preserve Shesterkin for the playoffs. Nevertheless, Shesterkin is easily the Vezina Trophy winner this season with a .934 save percentage while allowing 2.13 goals against this season. If he is confirmed as the starter for tonight, he'll easily get the win over the Flyers.

Final Flyers-Rangers Prediction & Pick

This is another one of those “no brainer” kinds of games. Let's be honest, the Flyers aren't good. They're in last place in the Metro Division and third to last in the league, in terms of points. They're clearly in a lottery position for the draft where they hope they can get the first pick. They have a lot of salary room for next season, so we'll have to see how that pans out. For now, the Rangers are going to win this game, pretty easily if you ask me. Give me the Rangers -1.5. Even the bookies know this pick is too easy since the odds are listed at -126. Extremely rare to see the spread in such low odds for the favorite. Take the points.

Final Flyers-Rangers Prediction and Pick: Rangers -1.5 (-126)
